Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

..............Here at St. Thomas Aquinas we have an ongoing process which gives adults an opportunity to learn about the Church without any obligation or commitment. We invite you to come and see who we are and discover for yourself whether the Catholic Church and the community of St. Thomas Aquinas is right for you. We have eight team members who meet with those interested on Sunday mornings at 8:55.

To contact us, call the Parish Office at 646 4338.

What is RCIA?

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the way new members join the Church but anyone interested in the Catholic Church is invited to attend.   There are four steps involved.

  1. The Inquiry Period focuses on answering questions and learning about our faith.
  2. The Catecumenate Period is a time to grow in faith within our community with the help of a sponsor and the team.  Lent is a prayerful time preparing for the sacraments at the Easter.
  3. Reception into the Church.  The sacraments of

Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation are received
      at the Easter Vigil.

  1. Continuing the Journey  Our new group stays

together until Pentecost when they go out with us to
       serve in ministry.

Our parish community is an important part of the process as we welcome and travel along this faith journey with the candidates.  The whole parish supports them through prayer with the sponsor as a personal guide along the way.  If you would like to be a sponsor, please call the parish office.
